The Hydrographer of the Future - Reflections on an international virtual workshop

The Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) expects the skillsets of its multidisciplinary hydrographers to evolve as field hydrography undergoes a digital transformation. To characterize these changes, CHS organized virtual workshop titled Hydrographer Future, in which it heard perspectives international colleagues other offices (HO’s), industry, and academia. Despite some variations, common themes emerged: changing technological context, people culture, future role hydrography. results this support CHS’ own internal planning; however, also hopes continue learning from partners share experiences through International Organization’s (IHO) e-learning center.
